In less than five hours, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services arrest two drivers for impaired driving

January 22, 2018, Antigonish, Nova Scotia… In less than five hours, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services arrested two drivers for impaired driving.

Just before 11:30 a.m. on January 21, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services clocked a vehicle travelling at 126 km/h, 26 km/hr over the posted speed limit, on Highway 104 in Sutherlands River. The driver, a 75-year-old man from Margaree Harbour, is facing charges for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Over the Legal Limit. He has been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

At approximately 4:00 p.m. on January 21, RCMP Eastern Traffic Services stopped an All-Terrain Vehicle travelling on the Brierly Brook Rd. in Brierly Brook. As a result, a 53-year-old man from Antigonish, is facing charges for Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Over the Legal Limit. He has been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Impaired driving is a major cause of serious injury and fatal collisions on our roads. Road safety is a priority for the RCMP and drivers are reminded to make it their priority as well. If you suspect a driver is impaired, call 911.
