RCMP arrests Cloverville woman for impaired driving

Antigonish, Nova Scotia, March 6, 2017 . . . On March 4 at 5:34 p.m., a member of Antigonish District RCMP noted a driver in an SUV who failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Fairview Street and James Street. Another vehicle travelling on James St. had to swerve to prevent a collision. The RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop, and while attempting to come to a stop for the police officer, the driver of the SUV drove the vehicle onto the sidewalk in front of the Antigonish Arena. The driver, a 63-year-old resident of Cloverville, NS was arrested for impaired driving. She was transported to Antigonish Detachment where she provided breath samples that were three times the legal limit. She was held in custody and later released, and is facing charges of Impaired Driving and Driving with a Blood Alcohol Content over 80mg%. She is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on May 31.

Since January 1st, 2017, Antigonish RCMP have charged 14 drivers with impaired driving. Antigonish RCMP would like to remind the public to call 911 if you are concerned about someone’s driving, or you suspect a driver is impaired.
