Impaired Driver Strikes Police Vehicle

Posted on May 16, 2011

At approximately 10:15 p.m. last night (2011-05-15) Antigonish RCMP received a call advising of a possible impaired driver on Highland Drive in the Town of Antigonish. The suspect vehicle was located a short time after near West Street and the 104 Highway. The suspect vehicle attempted to evade police and headed South. At the intersection of West Street and the 104 Highway the suspect vehicle operator showed total disregard for the general public and blew thorough a red light. A short distance from the intersection the suspect vehicle collided with a police cruiser and became disabled. The male driver was taken into custody for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and fleeing police. No injuries were sustained by either the suspect or the police during the minor crash. The suspect will be appearing in provincial court at a later date to answer to the charges.
