Antigonish RCMP request public assistance in vehicle break-ins

April 20, 2016, Antigonish, Nova Scotia . . . Antigonish RCMP have been investigating several thefts from vehicles over the past several months and are requesting public assistance to try to solve them.

Thefts from vehicles have been reported both within the Town of Antigonish and also within Antigonish County. Police are encouraging citizens to contact the local detachment as soon as possible with any information regarding these thefts, including descriptions of people and vehicles involved, and direction of travel. Cpl. Shannon Fear says, “no call is too minor”. The RCMP would like to remind citizens to lock their vehicles and remove all keys and valuables.

Antigonish RCMP is asking anyone who may have information about these incidents to contact the RCMP non-emergency line at 902-863-6500, Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers by phone at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or by texting TIP202 + your message to ‘CRIMES’ (274637), or by using Secure Web Tips at www.crimestoppers.ns.ca. Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers could qualify for a cash reward of $50 – $2000.

The investigation is ongoing.
