RCMP Welcome St FX Homecomers & Encourage Safe Celebrations

October 2, 2013, Antigonish, Nova Scotia…The Antigonish RCMP are ready for safe celebrations during the annual Saint Francis Xavier Homecoming weekend.

This weekend, October 5th and 6th is a time to celebrate current and past university experiences. The RCMP anticipate a fun weekend for all and are reminding the public to drink responsibly and make sure you have made plans for a safe way home.

“The RCMP want people to enjoy Homecoming and have fun but we all have a part to play in making sure this is a safe weekend,” said Sargent Brian REHILL. “People have to drink responsibly and plan ahead to ensure they have a safe drive home.”

To promote safe celebrations, community members will see an enhanced RCMP presence and will be exercising strict enforcement throughout the weekend. Summary Offence Tickets will be issued for violations of the Liquor Control Act for open liquor in public and being intoxicated in public as well as littering or violations of the Noise Control By-Law.
