Antigonish RCMP arrest Impaired Drivers over the weekend

RCMP arrested a 51 year old Antigonish man early Saturday morning on Arbor Drive. He was taken into custody and escorted to the RCMP detachment to provide samples of breath. He was held in custody for a bail hearing due to his lengthy record of six (6) previous impaired driving convictions and two (2) for driving while prohibited. He will appear in Provincial Court this morning for a bail hearing.

Police also arrested a 38 year old Sydney man at Riverside Speedway early Sunday morning operating a golf cart when he nearly collided with a marked police car. He was arrested and escorted to the detachment where he provided samples of breath. He was held in custody overnight and released in the morning on charges of impaired driving, driver with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs.

He will appear in court on October 1, 2014.
