Antigonish RCMP Investigate Crash on TCH 104 Heatherton

Police received a report of a two vehicle collision today at approximately 12 noon. A tractor trailer collided with a SUV as it attempted to cross highway 104 on to the Bayfield Road. The tractor trailer took evasive action in an attempt avoid the vehicle but did collided with the rear portion of the vehicle. The driver of the SUV left the scene but was located soon after and arrested by police. Alcohol was a factor in the crash. A 61 year old Antigonish County man is currently in custody. The man will be released facing charges impaired driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident and failing to yield to oncoming vehicles when entering an intersection.
