Antigonish RCMP conducted several checkpoints throughout the county over the weekend. An (18) year old man was arrested Friday evening after he attempted to avoid a police checkpoint. A drug recognition expert conducted an evaluation of the man and subsequently demanded he provide a biological sample for analysis. The man faces charges of impaired driving by drug and will appear in Provincial Court at a later date.

Police also issued some provincial driving suspensions, one was for 90 days and the other for 15 days. Two more roadside screening test were conducted at checkpoint on highway 7 at the roundabouts in Antigonish on Saturday. Both drivers passed the test and were permitted to continue driving.
