Antigonish RCMP apprehend two Impaired Drivers over weekend

Thursday evening police were called to the Walmart parking lot after an 57 year old Antigonish County man was seen drinking in his vehicle. The man was subsequently read demand to provide samples of his breath which he refused. The man faces charges of refusing to provide breath samples and impaired wile in care & control of a motor vehicle. He will be in court on December 21, 2011.

Early Saturday morning at 4:30 am. police were called motor vehicle crash near the community of Paq’ntkek. Three male occupants of the single vehicle were taken by ambulance to St. Martha’s hospital with non life threatening injuries. Investigation revealed the driver may have fallen asleep behind the wheel. No charges are anticipated.

Early Sunday morning police stopped a 19 year old Inverness County man from Long Point. The man was subsequently taken to the detachment to provide breath samples. He will face charges of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs / 100ml of blood and driving while impaired. He will be in court on January 11, 2012 to answer to the charges.
