Antigonish RCMP apprehend two Impaired Drivers over the weekend, serve Liquor tickets and respond to noise complaints

Police arrested a 42 year old Colchester County man Saturday afternoon after he ran into the back of another vehicle on highway 104 in James River. He faces charges of impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs/100 ml of blood. He will appear in court on November 18, 2015.

A 29 year old Inverness County man was arrested for impaired driving early Sunday morning after he was stopped by police on College Street. While being arrested the man tried to escape. He was apprehended and escorted to the RCMP detachment to provide samples of his breath. He faces charges of impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs/100 ml of blood, resisting arrest and driving while suspended. He will appear in court on November 25, 2015.

Police issued fourteen (14) Liquor Control Act tickets and responded to eight (8) Noise complaints within the town over the weekend.

Nine (9) checkpoints were conducted and eight (8) people were lodged in cells the majority for intoxicated in public.
