Antigonish RCMP apprehend Impaired Driver Over the weekend

Antigonish RCMP arrested a 25 year old Antigonish woman early Saturday morning after she was stopped on West Street. The woman failed a roadside screening device and was subsequently escorted to the RCMP detachment where she provided samples of breath. She will appear in court on October 31st, 2012 on charges of impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs.

From Thursday to Sunday evening police received 71 calls for service, 22 people were lodged in cells 10 of which were for being drunk in public. There were 12 noise complaints for loud parties 3 of which received tickets under the Municipal By-law.

The town has also been subject to some recent mischief. At the corner of Main and Acadia Street someone removed a manhole cover which created a very dangerous situation for road users. On Highland Drive sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning cross walk signs were pulled up and thrown on lawns.
