June 9, 2014 Antigonish, Antigonish County, Nova Scotia . . . Antigonish Emergency Responders to hold Mock Crash for area grads on Wednesday June 11th.

On Wednesday, June 11th at 9:45 a.m. Antigonish emergency response personnel including RCMP, Emergency Health Services and the Town of Antigonish Volunteer Fire Department will conduct a mock crash scene at Dr. JH Gillis High School. The mock crash is intended as an educational tool to highlight the dangers of impaired and distracted driving to members of the 2014 graduating class as they enter the grad season. Graduating students will see a simulated crash scene and the resulting emergency response efforts to deal with injuries and investigate the cause of the crash.

Staff from St. Martha’s Regional Hospital Emergency Department and RCMP Chaplaincy Services will be on hand as well to discuss ways of avoiding tragedy and dealing with it if it does occur. Students from Ecole acadienne de pomquet and East Antigonish Education Center Academy will also be present for the event.

Beech Hill Auto will provide wrecked vehicles for the crash.
