.Antigonish District RCMP had a busy Thanksgiving weekend responding to 41 calls for service

Early Saturday morning police responded to a call on James Street regarding a male brandishing a knife. A nineteen year old male was taken into custody and charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose along with uttering threats. He will be appearing in Provincial Court on December 19th,2012, for plea.

Later in the day, officers did a routine stop of a motor vehicle near James Street. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. Two youths are facing charges of possession of a narcotic.

A vehicle was stopped as a result of a concerned citizen reporting a possible impaired driver. The person has been issued with a notice of suspension for driving and the matter is still under investigation.

Four people were taken into police custody for breaches of the Liquor Control Act.
