Antigonish District RCMP seize drugs, cash

May 27, 2016, Antigonish, Nova Scotia . . . For the second time this week, Antigonish District RCMP have seized drugs and cash during the search of a home.

On May 24, members searched a home on Brierly Brook Rd and seized drugs including hashish, and marihuana.

Twenty-two-year-old Donald James Richardson of Antigonish has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Richardson is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on July 20, 2016.

This investigation is part of the Antigonish District RCMP’s continuing commitment to stop drug trafficking in the community.

Antigonish District RCMP seize drugs and cash

On May 19, Antigonish RCMP searched a home on Hawthorne Street. During the search police located and seized cash and drugs including cocaine, LSD, hashish, and marihuana.

Forty-eight year old Steven Lawrence Kirk of Antigonish has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with one count of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, and three counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Kirk is scheduled to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on July 20, 2016.

This investigation is part of the Antigonish District RCMP’s continuing commitment to stop drug trafficking in the community.

Antigonish RCMP arrest six youths for multiple vehicle thefts

May 10, 2016, Antigonish, Nova Scotia . . . Antigonish RCMP have arrested six youths for thefts from vehicles, possession of stolen property, and theft of vehicles.

Members of Antigonish District RCMP have responded to several calls since last October involving vehicles being broken into and the contents being stolen. In one case the entire vehicle was stolen. Following a five-month investigation, the RCMP has arrested six youths who are facing the following charges:

a 16-year old male youth from Ballantyne’s Cove – multiple Thefts from Motor Vehicles and Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000
a 17-year-old male youth from Antigonish – Theft of a Motor Vehicle
a 15-year-old male youth from Antigonish – multiple Thefts from Motor Vehicles
a 16-year-old male youth from Antigonish – multiple Thefts from Motor Vehicles, Breach of Undertaking
a 16-year-old male youth from Pomquet – multiple Thefts from Motor Vehicles , Theft of a Motor Vehicle
a 16-year-old male youth from Antigonish – multiple Thefts from Motor Vehicles , Theft of a Motor Vehicle
All six youths are expected to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court this July. The investigation is ongoing.

RCMP and EHS respond to school bus collision in Antigonish

RCMP and EHS respond to school bus collision in Antigonish

ANTIGONISH, NS, May 3, 2016 . . . RCMP and EHS responded to collision involving a school bus and a vehicle at the intersection of Highland Drive and Greening Drive, Antigonish, NS.

At 8:21 AM, RCMP received a 911 call from the Strait Regional School Board reporting the collision and further indicating that the school bus was occupied with students.

RCMP, EHS and School Board Officials responded to the scene of the collision and determined there were no injuries. Investigation revealed the driver of the seconde vehicle did not have a valid driver’s license, failed to comply with restrictions of a learner driver and failed to yield to the school bus.

The 23 year old Antigonish male was issued a number of “Summary Offence Tickets” associated to the incident.

School Board Officials are in the process of notifying parents of the students involved in the collision.
