RCMP Charge 17 year old with Stunting

On Thursday May 28th, 2015, the RCMP’s Eastern Traffic Services Unit charged a driver with Stunting. The 17 year old female from Antigonish County was stopped by police on Highway 7 in Ashdale. The youth was traveling at a rate of speed of 143 km/h in a 90 km/h zone as she was late for a test at school.
She was subsequently charged for driving in excess of 50 km/h over the posted speed limit; in addition to a 7 day Suspension of Driving Privileges. The involved vehicle was also towed and seized.

A Summary Offense Ticket was issued, contrary to Section 163(1) of the Motor Vehicle Act, which holds a fine of $2418.00.

Aggressive driving is one of the leading causes of Criminal Death in Canada.

Antigonish RCMP Media Release – Drop Off Prescription Drugs Day

The Antigonish RCMP in cooperation with MacKinnon’s Pharmasave are coordinating the “Drop Off Prescription Drugs” day in Antigonish. On May 9th, between 10:00am & 3:00pm, you can drop off any unused prescription medications to MacKinnon’s Pharmasave at 243 Main Street in Antigonish.

Impaired Driver caught twice in one day – Antigonish N.S

On May 6 2015 at 12:00 p.m., RCMP Eastern Traffic Services Unit from Antigonish arrested a 21 year-old Heatherton man for Impaired Driving by Drug on Highway 245 in North Grant, Antigonish County. The man was taken to the Antigonish RCMP Detachment and later released to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court August 26 2015.

Less than two hours later, the RCMP Eastern Traffic Services Unit observed the same Heatherton man driving on highway 104 in Heatherton, Antigonish County. The man was again arrested for Impaired Driving by Drug and taken to the Antigonish RCMP Detachment for another Drug Recognition evaluation.

The 21 year -old Heatheron man has been charged a second time for Impaired Driving by Drug and was released to appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on August 26 2015. The man was also placed on conditions to not operate a motor vehicle.

Antigonish RCMP Media Release – Police Week Community Events

In celebration of Police Week 2015, the Antigonish and Guysborough RCMP in partnership with Paqtnkek First Nation & East Antigonish Education Centre, are hosting a police familiarization day! On Thursday May 14th, from 10:00am until 12:30pm, several police resources will be on display in East Antigonish Education Centre’s soccer field. Our policing partners, the Department of Fisheries and Oceans & the Department of Natural Resources will also be present! Children from the school will be given an opportunity to visit the various stations. The event is also open to all members of the local communities.

On Friday May 15th the Antigonish RCMP in partnership with Antigonish Town & County Crime Prevention are hosting a community barbeque. The event will take place at the Antigonish RCMP Detachment, 4 Fairview Street, from 11:30am until 1:30pm. All community members are welcome!

Antigonish RCMP Investigate Vehicle Fire

Antigonish RCMP are seeking assistance with any information concerning a suspicious fire that occurred at 18 Maclellan Street in Antigonish on the evening of May 3rd, 2015 shortly after 11:00 pm. A vehicle parked in the lot was burned.
