Traffic Services issued three – 7 day driving suspensions in the Town of Antigonish due to alcohol impairment and arrested one male for impaired driving due to drug impairment in the County.
Antigonish RCMP arrested one female and one male for impaired driving in the Town of Antigonish in the early morning hours on Saturday.

Request help to identify driver

Antigonish RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a driver involved in pedestrian involved collision

On January 16th at approximately 1:15pm a young woman was struck by a vehicle in the crosswalk at St. Ninian and West Streets while walking toward St. FX University. The victim sustained minor injuries. The driver made no attempt to stop or offer assistance to the victim, but immediately drove from St. Ninian Street toward Main Street.

The vehicle is described as a navy blue car driven by a male described as in his 20’s – 30’s and wearing glasses. It is possible he was not wearing a jacket at the time of the collision.

Police are asking the driver and any witnesses to this incident to contact the Antigonish RCMP at 902-863-6500.

Antigonish RCMP Media Release – Impaired Driver Arrested After Collision

RCMP received a call of a single vehicle collision on the Addington Forks Road early Saturday evening. Investigators learned a car travelling on the wrong side of the road caused a man to take evasive action and go off the road to avoid a crash. Police acted quickly locating the suspect vehicle travelling toward Antigonish. A 28 year old Antigonish County woman was arrested for impaired driving and taken into custody and escorted to the RCMP detachment to provide samples of her breath. She was held in custody overnight and released this morning on charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs. She will be in court on March 11, 2015 for plea.

Impaired Drivers apprehended in Antigonish County Over Christmas Period

Police in Antigonish County continue to strive for road safety. Throughout the period of December 1, 2014 to January 4, 2015 police conducted (42) checkpoints. Six (6) impaired drivers were arrested and charged three (3) of which were impaired by drug. The investment the RCMP have made in Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) is paying dividends. A (66) year old Antigonish County man was charged for Failing to Comply with a Demand for a breath sample on December 30th.

Two (2) Roadside suspensions were issued, one on December 7th and one on January 1st.

Antigonish RCMP investigate damage to property

January 3rd, 2015, Antigonish, Nova Scotia . . . Antigonish County RCMP are investigating an incident in which two windows were broken in a house on Highland Drive.

Sometime during the Christmas holidays a house on Highland Drive in Antigonish was vandalized by having two ground level exterior windows smashed from the outside.
