Antigonish County RCMP investigate armed robbery

April 29, 2014, Paq’tnkek First Nations, Nova Scotia . . . Antigonish County RCMP are investigating a robbery that occurred earlier this morning.

At approximately 1:35 a.m., Antigonish County RCMP responded to a report of robbery at the Paq’tnkek Entertainment Center on the Paq’tnkek First Nations. Preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect believed to be a male wearing a disguise entered the entertainment centre with a firearm. The suspect demanded money from the employees and fled the scene with an undetermined amount of cash. A police dog from the New Glasgow Police Service was called in to assist with the investigation, the suspect was not located. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as between 5’3″ to 5’7″ and possibly a stocky build. The Antigonish Street Crime Enforcement Unit is assisting with the investigation.

Antigonish RCMP apprehend Impaired Drivers over the weekend

Antigonish RCMP arrested a 20 year old Antigonish man early Friday morning on Highland Drive for impaired driving. The man was released on a Promise to Appear in Provincial Court on July 2, 2014.

Police also arrested a 29 year old Trenton, NS woman for Failing to Comply with a demand for a Roadside screening device. The female was taken into custody and later released on a Promise to Appear in Provincial Court on June 25, 2014 in Antigonish.

Two people were charged for driving while suspended. Fifty-three (53) written warnings were issued for speeding and intersection related offences, and seven (7) checkpoints were conducted throughout the county.

Antigonish RCMP Media Release

Antigonish RCMP are investigating an act of mischief which occurred on April 10th between midnight and 1:20 a.m. at 260 Main Street, Antigonish when one of the front windows of Highland Basics was broken.
