Antigonish RCMP on the scene of a School Bus / Car Collision

Antigonish RCMP attended a two vehicle crash this morning on Highway 4 near Afton. The two vehicles collided when the driver of the school bus was turning left and the driver of a vehicle behind the bus attempted to pass. There were no injuries and minor damage. A second bus was dispatched to the scene to transport the children to school. The driver of the car a 59 year old Antigonish County man was issued a summary offence ticket for passing on a solid line under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Antigonish RCMP Media Release – Update: Structure Fire

January 22, 2014, Antigonish, Nova Scotia . . . Antigonish County RCMP, with the assistance of the Provincial Fire Marshal’s Office, confirm there is nothing suspicious about the fire that occurred yesterday at the Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) building.

At approximately 1 p.m. yesterday, RCMP and Fire services responded to the scene of a major structure fire at the TIR building on Post Road. The structure was a total loss and no one was injured.

RCMP and the Provincial Fire Marshal’s Office believe the cause of the fire was accidental in nature.

Police on scene of a structure fire

Antigonish RCMP are on the scene assisting with traffic control at a major structure fire at the Transportation Infrastructure Renewal building on the Post Road. Local Fire Departments are on scene fighting the blaze.

The nearby schools are not vulnerable and will not be dismissing students until the regular time. Police will assist at dismissal time with traffic control. Please pay attention to police and follow their direction.

Antigonish RCMP apprehend Impaired Driver over the weekend

Antigonish RCMP arrested a 64 year old Inverness County man Friday afternoon for impaired driving on highway 104 near Monastery. The man faces charges of operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs/100 ml of blood. He will appear in Provincial court on March 12, 2014.

Antigonish RCMP Investigate Break & Enter into Convenience Store

Antigonish RCMP are seeking the public’s assistance with a Break and Enter that occurred at Macdonald’s Convenience in St. Andrews early in the morning of January 2nd, 2014.

The suspects entered the store shortly before 3:30 am. Video footage shows a vehicle passing the store while the thieves were inside. RCMP believe the occupants of this vehicle may be have seen the vehicle used in the break in the parking lot.

There was also an attempted entry at the nearby Credit Union. The suspects were unsuccessful in entering the building and left empty handed.
