Antigonish RCMP Media Release – Prescription Drug Drop Off Day

Posted on November 18, 2014

Antigonish RCMP in partnership with Addictions Services is hosting a Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day on November 21.

In recognition of Addictions Awareness Week, Antigonish RCMP and Addiction Services are encouraging the public to do its part to prevent prescription drug abuse by disposing of no longer needed or expired prescription medications.

Having pain killers and narcotics in a home puts people at risk of theft. Disposing of them safely reduces the chance that these drugs will fall into the wrong hands and be abused, or sold.

Safe disposal of prescription drugs that are expired or no longer needed, also helps to ensure that they don’t cause harm, especially to young or other vulnerable people.

On November 21st remove all labels from your prescriptions and bring them to Lawtons Drugs in the Antigonish Mall between 11am and 2pm for safe and anonymous disposal.
