The RCMP would like to remind the motoring public to clear all the windows of their vehicle of snow and ice prior to placing the vehicle in drive. Failure to do so will limit a driver’s ability to see other vehicles and pedestrians.

Antigonish RCMP apprehend two Impaired Drivers over the weekend

Antigonish RCMP arrested a 20 year old Sydney Mines early Saturday morning after she was stopped on James Street. She faces charges of driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs/100 ml of blood and impaired driving. She will appear in Provincial Court on January 15, 2015 in Antigonish.

Police arrested a 40 year old Antigonish man for impaired driving on Fairview Street Sunday afternoon. The man was held in custody overnight and will appear in court this morning. He faces charges of driving with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs/100 ml of blood and impaired driving.

RCMP Media Release – Damage to Property

Mischief – Damage to Property
On Monday November the 18th, 2013 Antigonish RCMP were called to a report of Mischief – damage to Property at the East Antigonish Education Centre in Monastery, Nova Scotia.

Preliminary investigation revealed that on Sunday November the 17th, 2013 in the afternoon two people attended the Teepee that had been set up on the property it is believed that one or both of these parties cut the teepee.

First person is described as a female with slightly longer than shoulder length brown hair, wearing a white bomber style hooded coat. Second person is described as a male believed to be wearing a ¾ length navy blue coat and a dark colored ball cap.

Antigonish RCMP Media Release – Sudden Death

Sudden Death

Nov 20, 2013, Tracadie, Nova Scotia . . . At approximately 4:30 p.m. yesterday, Antigonish RCMP were called to assist Emergency Health Services at St. Peter’s Parish Hall in Tracadie.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 73-year-old male had suffered a medical emergency and as a result passed away at the scene. The deceased had received the Fluviral vaccine at the clinic prior to his death however it is not suspected to have had any bearing on the deceased’s passing. The clinic was closed for the day following the incident.

The death is not considered suspicious at this time and investigation has been turned over to the Medical Examiners office.
