Antigonish RCMP Media Release – Damage to Property / Shots Fired

Sometime between 7:45am and 3:00pm on Friday, February 22nd a vehicle on Village Lane, South Side Harbour, Antigonish County sustained damage as a result of shots fired in the area. No one was hurt in the incident.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to contact the Antigonish RCMP or Crime Stoppers.

Antigonish RCMP execute search warrant

On February 25th, 2013, the Antigonish/Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Brookland Street, Antigonish. Police seized a quantity of cannabis resin, marihuana and equipment related to the production of cannabis resin. A 51 year old Antigonish male was arrested inside the residence and faces charges of Production of Cannabis Resin, Possession of Cannabis resin and possession of marihuana. He will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court in May to answer to the charges.

Antigonish RCMP apprehend Two Impaired Drivers over the weekend

Antigonish RCMP arrested a 50 year old William’s Point man Saturday night for impaired driving after he was stopped on Fairview Street. The man faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs and impaired driving. He will appear in a court date of April 17, 2013.

A 35 year old Monk’S Head woman was arrested Sunday afternoon for impaired driving after she crashed her car on highway 104 near Dagger Woods. The woman was taken to St. Martha’s hospital where police arrested her and read her a demand for blood samples to determine the concentration of alcohol in her blood. A court date has not been determined.

Police arrested a 24 year old Paq’tnkek man for public intoxication on College Street early Saturday morning. Once in custody he damaged a police vehicle and subsequently has been charged with mischief. The man was released the following morning on conditions and will appear in Court on May 15th to answer to the charges.

Antigonish RCMP apprehend another Impaired Driver overnight

Antigonish RCMP arrested their second impaired driver in as many nights. A 44 year old Antigonish County man was arrested for impaired driving last night after he was stopped for speeding on highway 104 near Havre Boucher. The man faces charges of operating a motor vehicle while having a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs and impaired driving. He was held in custody overnight and released this morning on a court date of April 17, 2013.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance with identifying the driver of a hit & run at the Walmart parking lot yesterday at approximately 4:15 p.m. A 2001 Subaru was struck by another vehicle whose driver left the scene. The man was described as an older driving a white Dodge Caravan that had a black fender.

Antigonish-Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit Media Release

On February 21, 2013 as part of an ongoing property crime investigation, the Antigonish/Guysborough Street Crime Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at a garage in Arichat. Police located and seized a 2011 Yamaha Raptor ATV valued at approximately $8000.00 which had recently been stolen in a break and enter to an Antigonish Business. This investigation is ongoing and charges are expected to be laid.
