Antigonish RCMP attend structure fire

May 30, 2012, Cape George, Nova Scotia . . . RCMP were called on the afternoon of Tuesday, May 29th, to assist the Antigonish County Fire Department with a structure fire in Cape George.

The fire was determined by the Fire Marshall’s office to be accidental in nature. The structure was a garage on the property which contained a marihuana grow operation for medicinal purposes.

Antigonish RCMP apprehend Two impaired drivers over the weekend

A 29 year old Lower South River man faces charges of impaired driving and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit after he was stopped early Saturday morning. He will be appearing in Provincial Court on July 11, 2012 to answer to the charges.

Saturday night at approximately 10:00 pm an Colchester County man was arrested for impaired driving in the Big Marsh area. The man was remanded into custody and will be appear in Provincial Court this morning for a Show-Cause Hearing on charges of impaired driving, operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration over the legal limit, driving while prohibited and possession of stolen property. The man’s vehicle was also impounded under the Motor Vehicle Act.

Antigonish RCMP have a steady May long weekend

Police responded to 58 call for service from Friday to Monday. Two impaired drivers were apprehended during that time. On May 19th at approximately 2:00 p.m. after police were called to a disturbance between two men in the community of Paqtnkek. A 43 year old Antigonish County man was arrested and will face charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to provide a breath sample, possession of a weapon dangerous to public and uttering threats. He will appear in Provincial Court on June 27, 2012 in Antigonish.

Early Sunday morning police arrested a 49 year old Antigonish County man on West Street for impaired driving. The man will be in Provincial Court on July 18th to answer to charges of impaired driving and operating with a blood alcohol concentration over 80 mgs/100 ml of blood.

Two 7 day suspensions were issued: the first was given to a 43 year old Antigonish County man who was driving an All Terrain Vehicle on May 20th and the second to a 34 year old Paqtnkek man after being stopped in the community just after midnight on Saturday night.

Police are also seeking the public’s assistance in relation to a suspicious fire Monday night on Cloverville Road. The structure was a mini-home under renovation. Amendment to Antigonish RCMP Media Release on vehicle damage

Antigonish RCMP are investigating the damage to a Red Chevrolet Tracker that was parked on Highway 4 in Afton on May 10th, 2012 between 1:00 pm and 1:15 pm. All windows in the vehicle had been smashed.
